About.com switching to WordPress

Photo Matt – About.com switching to WordPress (WP)

This is huge. When I learned that About.com used MovableType (MT) for their CMS it was ammo for using MT more around our site to allow for easy content updating. The differences between the two are enormous and I’ll still use MT where I want the logic of its templates vs. the more free flow WP template (I know you can specify more than one template but… it’s not the same) – plus I run MT on a staging server where it writes flat files. I then have a sync script on each group’s main editing menu labled “Publish Changes to Live Site” which does an rsync over to our production web server.

The most important aspect is contained content where business/content owners can focus on one thing: their content and not html.
