I really appreciate this article simply because it links to many, ?near canonical past articles from others in our field. It takes a lot of work, technically (aside from typographically) to get this right, I hope it get’s better soon.
One other resource for fonts I am keeping an eye on is an open source place called The League of Moveable Type …
You should watch this talk on the future of games by game designer Jesse Schell. It is the most mind-changing talk I've heard in many years. There were so many new ideas in it, and they went by so fast, that I have already watched it twice and will probably watch it once more. It's that kind of talk.

I can’t wait to see what we can do with post types. I’m just digging into WP after burying myself in a proprietary mid-tier CMS which is good for what it does but it lacks soooo much in comparison.

This is it … the now of applications? This Stanza/Kindle like reader for your mobile device does offline storage of books but it’s only a webapp, it’s not a binary, device specific application. Leaps and bounds, this is the future for general content applications. I have long thought it strange that publications release device specific applications for the iPhone which are not much more than browsers for the content already available on their websites. Of course with the near ubiquity now of mobile webkit based browsers we can hope that the path for development is clear, stable, and robust enough to create a real ecosystem of offline capable apps for mobile devices.
Some very good explanations of Core Data vs. a database. Thanks!

In his op-ed piece titled “The Fat Lady Sung” Thomas Friedman says “Welcome to the lean years” and?talks in sweeping platitudes of our demise:
Indeed, to lead now is to trim, to fire or to downsize services, programs or personnel. We?ve gone from the age of government handouts to the age of citizen givebacks, from the age of companions fly free to the age of paying for each bag.
What he fails to mention, indeed what everyone speaking on the topic today fail to mention (I’m thinking of the CPAC speeches highlighted lately) is that yes, we are spending too much, but, it’s about what we spend on that matters.
The United States spends nearly more than all other countries in the world combined on our Department of War (ahem, Defense). We maintain over 300 military installations in some 130 countries across the world. We should reduce this drastically and build our own nation.
This over reliance on the MIC has also bred a warped industrial policy, rather, it’s our only industrial policy since all other industry gave way to inexpensive out of country labor markets.
