This is a huge wow. They had to temporarily take the site offline because interest was too high. They are increasing capacity to meet demand.
These are selected items from the entire NYPL collection. The only technical information I know of is some storage staats, managed in Oracle, xml and meta-data using Lucene to provide search, and Cold Fusion is the binder.
