Microsoft IE ActiveX Update

Microsoft IE ActiveX Update – Preview | Baekdal.com

This link is a write up of how some things are panning out post Eolas lawsuit. Basically IE will exhibit a new behavior for embedded objects. A user will see the content so for instance the news banner container on our home page will play through the four slides but if the visitor wants to click on “read more” or use the thumbnails at the bottom the visitor will first have to “click to activate the object” and then interact with the embedded object.

Aren’t patents great!?

Microsoft has documented the forthcoming changes in IE which they say will be a forced update. The basic solution is to not embed directly but to do so using javascript to write the media object tags.
