WordPress 3 – custom content types revealed
Here is a great post showing a custom post type in WordPress 3, something that previously was costly to do and maintain. ?You can more easily define a set of fields to use for a Post type. This is great news.
This is exactly the stuff that needed to be in the core and adds a level of robustness that is in other tools like Drupal (v7 has CCK in the core), MovableType (v4+has had CustomFields), and ExpressionEngine (custom fields for a long while), not to mention so many commercial only CMS products we all use. Oh WordPress has had custom fields but not at this level or layer.?Some WP developers who have flexed custom fields in the past may disagree but custom fields have ?seemed??more of an add on to WP which were costly to implement but now custom post types have the appearance of a stable development tool.
What does this do to Pods the serious customizer of content types for WordPress? I am about to start investigating Pods for a site that needs serious custom content types and relationships … maybe I will wait.
