Creative News Aggregation
10×10 / 100 Words and Pictures that Define the Time / by Jonathan J. Harris
This is terrific and I have failed to mention before. The use of RSS and some algorithm creates 10×10 of the most popular stories. Currently the process doesn’t scan very many news sources (why not CSM? or why just those three?) but the roundup of news seems to fit the day. Even better, it’s an interesting way to present this data.
I’m not a huge fan of that magnify focus stuff (first seen in an I.D. Interactive Award CD rom from several years back and made popular by the Mac OS X Dock) but it does work for such density of content.
This would be great to compile from individual blogs as well. Aggregate some top level poli-blogs, tech blogs, and the like… visualizing daypop, blogdex, and their ilk into some more manageable presentation. It’d be interesting to view these vehicles more critically beside an idea like 10×10.
